This project is financed up to 85% in European funds under the Environment Operational Programme. The creative solutions offered by VWS Romania, enabling treatment of a raw water of heavy organic charge characterized by a turbidity mounting up to 6,000 NTU, have been selected following an open tender procedure held by "Apa Tarnavei Mari", local water operator based in the center of the country.
The refurbishment of the drinking water treatment plant of Medias is the first contract won by VWS Romania under the Environment Operational Programme, which holds available to Romanian authorities 2 billion Euro financing in order to attain up to 2018 water quality parameters under the provisions of EC Directive 22.
The 24 months' project will employ technologies including ozonation, Multiflo trio, Actiflo carb, sand filters, activated carbon filters, UV treatment and chlorination. The flow of the station is of 888 L/S.
