Built in 1900, Arcuda Drinking Water Treatment Plant has a capacity of 750.000 m³/day and is it equipped with 42 pcs. rapid sand filters.

In order to increase the quality of the treated water, the 26 filters suffered a deep refurbishment operation by replacing the valves, the air network system. There was also a great part of civil work rehabilitation by replacing the concrete slabs, the nozzles and the sand and gravel too.

After the refurbishment process, the filter's washing can be done automatically and through the SCADA system one can monitor all the parameters and also the process data can be transmitted continuously to the Main Control Centre so that the operation costs can be optimised.

In 2000, Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies Romania designed and built the chlorination station in Arcuda so that the water disinfection can be done automatically and the EU standards compliance is secured.
